Step 2: Choose Your Therapist

When choosing a therapist, the most important factor for success is the relationship you are able to build with that therapist.

  • Cultural competency matters. Look for a therapist who understands the unique stressors of frontline service.

  • Prosecutors experience high levels of vicarious trauma and moral injury. Your therapist should have experience in these areas (or specialization in the area you are looking for).

  • Not all therapists take insurance. Make sure to verify insurance on the therapist’s website or via phone.

Stories of Resiliency.

(We can delete this section or replace the stories with stories about Attorney mental health.). Resiliency is found in story. Sometimes being willing to lean in to difficult conversations is all that is needed to find the traction, motivation, and path back to happiness and healthy relationships. Vicarious trauma is real. So is vicarious resiliency.
